It is only for Christian people.
Answer:
Christian counseling is for anyone (Christian or non-Christian) desiring to talk about personal problems with an objective, non-judgmental, professional who is willing to address religion and spirituality.

The counseling session is a sermon preached by the counselor.
Answer:
The Christian counseling session is not a sermon being preached by the counselor, but a safe place where people can feel comfortable to open up and share their personal problems with someone who is willing to listen, encourage and equip them with new skills that they can then use to solve their own problems.


Myth:
Christian counselors are not professional counselors.
Answer:
Christian Counselors are professional counselors who abide by the ethical standards of the field of counseling as well as the standards of the Bible that teaches that people have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and be shown unconditional positive regard.


Myth:
Christian Counselors are trained only in the Bible and not in counseling theories and techniques.
Answer:
Christian Counselors are trained in the same counseling theories and techniques as non-Christian counselors, but often have additional training in pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, religion, or theology.

Myth:
My insurance will not pay for counseling with a Christian counselor.
Answer:

Since Christian Counselors are also Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), they are able to accept certain insurances for which they have been credentialed.
